About Daleel Oman — panoramic view of Muscat Oman with Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque at sunset

We started Daleel Oman because we know what it feels like to arrive in a new country with a thousand questions and no single place to find the answers.

When we moved to Oman, we spent weeks piecing together information from outdated expat forums, generic relocation sites, and WhatsApp groups where advice ranged from brilliant to dangerously wrong. Which visa do I actually need? Where should we live? How much does a good school cost? Is that neighbourhood safe for families? Can I really drink the tap water?

We found the answers eventually — but it took far longer than it should have. And we thought: why doesn’t someone just put all of this in one place, keep it current, and write it like a real person instead of a government pamphlet?

So that’s what Daleel Oman is.

What Does Daleel Mean?

Daleel (دليل) is the Arabic word for guide. Not a tour guide standing with a flag at the airport — but the kind of guide who actually knows the way. The person you call when you need a straight answer. That is what this platform is designed to be: a reliable, practical guide to Oman that treats every reader like they deserve real information, not marketing fluff.

We chose the name because it captures exactly what we want to offer. When you are standing in Muscat wondering which neighbourhood to rent in, which school will actually suit your children, whether you need a car immediately, or how the visa process really works — you need a daleel. Someone who has been through it and can tell you plainly.

Why We Built Daleel Oman

Expat family arriving at Muscat International Airport in Oman

Oman is one of the most welcoming countries in the Middle East.
It is safe, genuinely beautiful, culturally rich, and still relatively undiscovered compared to Dubai or Doha. But when you try to find practical, trustworthy information about actually living here —
as an expat, a new arrival, or a visitor planning something beyond the hotel lobby — the experience is frustrating.

Visa information is scattered across government portals, outdated blog posts, and anonymous forum threads. Neighbourhood advice is either vague or years out of date. School information requires calling ten different offices. Wadi and outdoor guides are either dangerously incomplete or written by people who visited once. And Khareef in Salalah barely has a single reliable English-language resource.

We built Daleel Oman because that gap should not exist. Oman deserves one clear, well organised digital destination where expats, families, tourists, and seasonal visitors can find what they need without piecing together five different websites, three Facebook groups, and a WhatsApp forward from a colleague. That is why Daleel Oman exists.

What Daleel Oman Covers

Daleel Oman is built around three connected guides, each designed for a specific need but all living under one roof:

Daleel Muscat — The Expat and Relocation Guide. Visas, housing, schools, banks, healthcare, transport, cost of living — everything you need to know in your first year and beyond. We research every topic properly, include real numbers and current prices, and tell you what we’d tell a friend.

Khareef Calendar — The Salalah Season Guide. Events, food, hotels, crowd levels, and honest recommendations for what’s worth doing and what’s overhyped.

Wadi Compass — The Outdoor and Adventure GuideWadi routes, difficulty ratings, safety information, and trusted operator listings for anyone who wants to explore Oman beyond the city.

Who Is Behind Daleel Oman

We’re a small team, and we don’t pretend to know everything. But we do promise that everything on this site is researched properly, updated regularly, and written with genuine care for the people reading it.

If Daleel Oman helps even one person feel less overwhelmed about moving here, or discover a wadi they’d never have found otherwise, or avoid a mistake that would have cost them time and money — then we’ve done our job.

Welcome to Oman. You’re going to love it here.

What We Believe

Practical beats pretty. A clear answer is worth more than a beautiful page. We will always choose useful over impressive.

Local knowledge is not optional. If we have not verified it in Oman, we do not publish it. We do not guess. We do not copy. We check.

Freshness matters. Outdated advice is worse than no advice. Every page on Daleel Oman carries an updated date, and we review content regularly.

Honesty builds trust. We tell you when something is expensive, inconvenient, or not as good as the brochure suggests. That is what a real guide does.

One Oman, one platform. Instead of scattering information across three separate sites, we built everything under one domain so you only need one bookmark.

That is what Daleel Oman is built on.

For Businesses and Partners

Daleel Oman is also a discovery platform for trusted local businesses. If you run a school, a clinic, a real estate agency, a car dealership, a tour operator, a restaurant, or any service that helps people settle in, explore, or enjoy Oman — we want to hear from you.
